I am delighted to welcome Edwin Berbesi to the Smith Engineering IT Team today as our new Manager, Systems & Development. 

Edwin joins us from Queen’s own Centre for Advanced Computing, where he spent the past several years supporting the servers, storage, and virtualization infrastructure behind the university’s research computing environment — experience that will be a direct benefit to our researchers as we continue to grow our research computing support and incorporate the many new initiatives of Reimagining Engineering Education. 

Before that, he spent a decade building and leading the entire network and systems environment at the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, giving him a rare combination of deep technical expertise and real hands-on leadership. 

Colleagues consistently describe Edwin as a collaborative, level-headed problem-solver — someone who takes the time to understand what a project actually needs, brings people into the conversation early, and is always willing to explain his thinking. Edwin will be joining the team in Jackson Hall and looks forward to meeting with the Smith Engineering community.
