AppsAnywhere Testing Guide

Stage 1: Tier 1 Tests on Player VM

AppSet Preparation

  1. Open the vSphere client for Newton.appsci.queensu.ca
  2. Go to Inventory > VMs & Templates > APP_SCI_VDI > DesktopImages > AppsAnywhere – Capture
  3. If you do not have a personal instance of the Player VM please refer to the VM Preparation section of the AppsAnywhere Build Guild to create one.
  4. Revert your Player VM instance to the clean image snapshot.
  5. Power on your Player VM.
  6. After you log on, copy the STP file generated in the build process to the local drive of the VM (i.e. Desktop or Downloads). To mount the share you will need to use the following command:
    net use \\feas-it-files.appsci.queensu.ca\AppsAnywhere /user:ad\NetID

to establish the connection, followed by

    code>\\feas-it-files.appsci.queensu.ca\AppsAnywhere

    to open the window.

  7. Once the STP file is copied over, right click the file and use 7Zip to extract the file.
  8. Double click the *.TOK file — it will have the CloudPaging Player icon.
  9. Double click the Cloudpaging Player icon in the task tray to open the Cloudpaging window.  You should see your app listed with a status of ready.
  10. Select/highlight the app if it is not already selected.
  11. Click the Launch button on the ribbon bar.

Perform Testing

  1. Does the application launch (assuming the application should autolaunch)?
  2. Do start menu items get created?
  3. Does the application do what it is supposed to?
  4. Can you exit and relaunch the application?
  5. Can you access the local disk from the application?

When these tests are complete and successful you can mark the testing complete and the Service Request will get re-assigned to SysOps.
